Simple Custard

This creamy custard is absolutely scrumptious on it’s own and also makes for the perfect pourable topping over your favourite stewed fruits, pies or crumbles.

Prep: 2 min | Cook: 8 min | Serves: 2

Simple Custard

Stage 1:

  • 1 egg

  • ¼ cup corn flour

  • pinch salt

  • 1 tbsp maple syrup

Stage 2:

  • 2 cups milk of choice

  • 1 tsp vanilla essence

01 Whisk stage 1 ingredients in a small saucepan until smooth.

02 Add a dash of the milk and whisk to make a smooth paste. Slowly whisk in remaining milk and vanilla.

03 Place saucepan over high heat and whisk continuously for 8 minutes, or until custard thickens.

04 Remove from heat and serve warm.

Store: Leftovers in an air tight container in the fridge for up to 2 days. Reheat in the microwave and stir to recombine.

Dietaries:

To make this recipe dairy free, opt for dairy free milk such as oat, almond or soy.
